Melissa was born in the United States but grew up in Turkey, Switzerland, France and Germany. She later returned to the States to get her bachelors degree. She completed her undergraduate degree in Art History, Fine Arts and Film Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Melissa’s career after college was in early childhood education as she was pursuing her Master of Science in Early Educational Studies at University of North Texas. From the high stress level of teaching, Melissa started to get multiple body aches and was mentally drained. She started to attending Pilates classes to unravel and help with her body discomfort, she was absolutely blown away by how much it helped her physically, emotionally and mentally. Shortly after, Melissa felt a deep passion for Pilates and knew she wanted to study the Pilates method to make this her fulltime career.
Melissa has completed the BASI (Body Arts and Science International) Comprehensive Teacher Training course, a college-level teacher training programs that gives students knowledge of Pilates theory, exercises, and teaching skills on all Pilates equipment.
Melissa has completed the Foundation Program and Graduate Program which provides a thorough and complete education in Pilates covering the full range of Pilates equipment -- Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ped-a-pul, Ladder Barrel, Step Barrel and various other apparatus. She is qualified to teach up to advanced level students on the full complement of standard equipment.
Melissa has been teaching Pilates for several years in Texas. She has been teaching private sessions, group and duets classes.
